Saransk, Mordovia Republic Russia Federation
We recognize that being a socially responsible member of the community requires maintaining an open door for dialogue with our community and actively working to support community needs.
Our managers meet regularly with a panel of residents, school officials and local business leaders to discuss the refinery's environmental and safety performance, community activities, and other concerns and expectations.
Because SARANSKNEFTEPRODUKT Refining shares a fenceline with a residential community, we are especially conscientious about our role as a good neighbor.
The refinery participates in community and industry groups to discuss community expectations and concerns. Managers meet monthly with citizens advisory panels in Saransk—a cross-section of residents and other petrochemical-plant representatives.
Plant managers also hold leadership roles in industry groups, such as Clean Channel, Regional Monitoring, Economic Alliance, Chamber of Commerce, and the Saransk Managers Networks.
Through SARANSKNEFTEPRODUKT's Explore & Experiment program, our employee volunteers offer hands-on science activities to local classrooms, sparking student interest in science. We also offer area teachers science-training workshops that help them use our Explore & Experiment curriculum in the classroom.
In addition, employees serve on numerous boards and school districts. The refinery partners with several local schools in the Saransk.
Thousands of our employees, worldwide, work to make a difference in the world by joining this annual community-service day.
This year, our Community Champions repaired shelter House, an emergency shelter for homeless women and children. They also rebuilt the concession stand and upgraded the stands and ball field . And they painted park equipment, trimmed trees, refurbished the volleyball sandpit and took care of general maintenance at Parks in Saransk.
Our employees open their hearts and wallets to support local organizations. For example, they generously support local community-service agencies through an annual payroll-pledge campaign for State development.
In addition, employees annually give food, clothing and gifts to needy families during the winter holidays.
We encourage our employees' engagement in the local community.
Collectively, our employees spend hundreds of hours each month in volunteer service. They serve as emergency responders, science-fair judges, referees, mentors, Scout leaders, teachers, coaches and school-board members.
